BLUE BRAIN

         

              Blue brain is an attempt to create a synthetic brain by reverse engineering and to recreate it at the cellular level . The research involves studying living brain tissue using microscope and patch clamp electrodes. Data is collected about all the different neuron types. This data is used to build biologically realistic models of neurons and networks of neurons in the central cortex.The simulation is carried out on a Blue Gene super computer built by IBM.Hence the name " BLUE BRAIN "
           

  Main aim of the project is to provide brain disease treatment. One in four people will suffer from one of around 560 diseases during their lifetime.So this project helps us to understand these disease and in finding suitable treatments.The living brain is difficult to study. This virtual model makes direct observations possible.
